Having been deeply involved in local government over the past few years, I have closely observed the challenges our community faces. I am running for the NH House in Sullivan District 6 with a commitment to addressing these issues and working towards meaningful solutions. Here are my top priorities:
The Economy
The economy is at the forefront of my agenda. Families in our district are grappling with the high costs of housing, energy, childcare, and healthcare. These essential needs have become increasingly burdensome, making it difficult for many to make ends meet. We need comprehensive policies that will provide relief and support to our residents.
Reproductive Freedom
Reproductive freedom is a fundamental right that impacts both men and women, allowing individuals to make choices about their own bodies and futures. In our family, we have personally experienced the profound benefits of reproductive freedom. Thanks to in vitro fertilization (IVF), we were able to welcome an additional granddaughter into our lives, bringing immense joy and fulfillment to our family.
The ability to choose if, when, and how to have children is a deeply personal decision that should be respected and supported. Access to reproductive healthcare, including IVF, contraception, ensures that everyone has the opportunity to build their families according to their own values and circumstances.
Reproductive freedom is not just about individual choice; it is about ensuring equality and fairness in our society. By protecting and expanding access to reproductive healthcare, we can create a community where everyone has the chance to thrive and make decisions that are best for themselves and their families.
As we look to the future, it is essential that we uphold and advance reproductive rights, ensuring that all individuals have the freedom to make choices about their reproductive health without interference or restriction.
Housing
The lack of housing is driving up both sales and rent costs, placing additional strain on our families. Addressing this shortage requires a multi-faceted approach, including incentives for housing development, support for first-time homebuyers, and measures to prevent homelessness.
Education Funding
The recent court decision regarding the cost of an adequate education has highlighted the need for the State Legislature to take decisive action. My concern is that the State may struggle to meet these funding requirements without diverting funds from essential local municipal services. We must find a balanced solution that ensures our children receive a quality education without compromising funding for areas such as rooms and meals, highway block grants, and bridge funding.
Energy and Healthcare
High energy costs are another critical issue affecting our families. We need to explore sustainable and cost-effective energy solutions that will reduce the financial burden on households. Additionally, the rising cost of healthcare requires urgent attention. I will advocate for policies that improve access to affordable healthcare services, ensuring that no one in our community must choose between the health and their financial stability.
Environmental Protections
Environmental protection is a crucial issue that impacts the health and well-being of our community. We need to commit to safeguarding our residents from harmful materials and ensuring that our environment remains clean and safe for future generations.
A pressing concern we face today is the regulation of Construction and Demolition (C&D) sites and landfills. These facilities, if not properly managed and located, can pose significant risks to our health and the environment. Harmful substances from C&D sites can contaminate our soil, water, and air, leading to long-term adverse effects on our community.
Childcare
Affordable and accessible childcare is essential for working families. I will work towards increasing funding for childcare programs, expanding access, and supporting initiatives that provide high-quality early childhood education.
As your representative, I am committed to listening to your concerns and working tirelessly to address them. Together, we can build a stronger, more prosperous Sullivan District 6
